Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp cover Michael Jackson’s ‘Give in to Me’ in latest ‘Sunday Lunch’

Toyah Willcox and King Crimson co-founder Robert Fripp have added another instalment to their ‘Sunday Lunch’ cover series with a rendition of Michael Jackson’s ‘Give In To Me’.

Jackson originally released the song as the tenth track on his 1991 studio album, Dangerous, an album that also included such iconic tracks as ‘Black or White’ and ‘Remember the Time’. ‘Give In To Me’ featured a guest appearance by Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Slash.

In the video, Willcox can be seen belting out Jackson’s famous lyrics while Fripp appears adorned in Slash’s signature attire, providing a guitar accompaniment while sporting a top hat.

Initiated during the Covid-19 pandemic, these musical delights have become a consistent highlight of many music lovers’ Sunday afternoons. Throughout the past few years, Fripp and Wilcox have ventured into various covers, ranging from Metallica to Radiohead. Their captivating performances even graced the stage at Glastonbury earlier in 2023.

During the latter months of 2023, the pair also took the concept on tour, delivering performances in Birmingham, London, and more.

In July 2024, the duo plans to grace the stage of PennFest, the two-day music in the village of Penn, Buckinghamshire, alongside a line-up including Richard Ashcroft, Paul Weller, Jess Glynne, Wiley, The Hoosiers, The Coral, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and others.

Speaking to Eonmusic, Willcox revealed that the ‘Sunday Lunch’ videos could eventually become the source of a new feature film. “We have a documentary crew following us, and we have quite a big production company scripting an idea at the moment,” she explained, adding: “Obviously, we won’t be in it. It’s for actors to play, but that’s all in the back kind of pool of what you call pre-production. All of that’s going on”.
