‘Top Boy’ actor Micheal Ward accused in court of raping women in car as trial begins

Top Boy actor Micheal Ward has been accused of raping a woman in a vehicle during the opening day of his trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Ward is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault.

The 28-year-old denies all of the charges and previously told the Metropolitan Police in 2023 that he had consensual sex with the accuser.

During the opening day of the trial on June 29th, the court heard that Ward met the woman for the first time on January 1st, 2023, at the Infinity Lounge nightclub in East London.

According to Sky News, prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC told the court that the woman recognised him from film and television before he asked for her Snapchat details.

Subsequently, she was asked to accompany Ward in the back of his friend’s Mercedes, where she consented to him touching her sexually, the court was told.

They then attended another party in Stratford; however, the court heard the woman got a “weird vibe” from the event, which was largely attended by males, and decided to depart with her two friends shortly after.

However, jurors heard that she saw Ward outside, and he invited her to walk to a vehicle that was parked down the road, allegedly instructing her to walk behind him and not to speak with anyone en route.

Ayling KC told the court that Ward, who sat in the driver’s seat, became “quite impatient” and allegedly told her to “stop wasting time” when she told him he was allowed to kiss her from the front seat.

It is alleged that he then went into the back seat and kissed her breasts. The court heard that Ward allegedly then committed assault by penetration on two occasions. She is alleged to have told him “this was not a situation she wanted to be in” and opened the door of the vehicle to exit before it’s claimed that he “quite sternly told her to close it”.

The next day, the woman ordered an STI kit and ticked the box to allege she had been the victim of sexual assault.

Ward was first arrested on January 18th, 2023, telling police, “I deny the allegation of rape. I want to put on record that we had consensual foreplay and consensual sex.” He was officially charged in 2025.

The trial continues.
