Tony Iommi confirms new solo album will arrive in 2026
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has confirmed that his new album will arrive later this year.
In a new video uploaded to his YouTube channel to celebrate the New Year, the Black Sabbath guitarist began by reflecting on the past twelve months, stating that “2025 for me started off really well”.
He then listed highlights such as collaborating with Robbie Williams, launching his new website and receiving the Freedom of Birmingham along with his Black Sabbath bandmates, which he said was “absolutely amazing”.
Iommi also looked back at reuniting with Black Sabbath for Back to the Beginning, stating, “The amount of bands that turned up to support Sabbath at that was just fantastic. What a great event. And, of course, it raised a lot of money for charity.”
On a sad note, he then acknowledged the sad passing of his bandmate Ozzy Osbourne, adding, “It’s just unfortunate and sad that Ozzy passed away a couple weeks after that. May he rest in peace.”
Looking ahead to the future, Iommi laid out his plans for 2026, sharing, “There’s a Gibson documentary coming out very, very soon and then, of course, in 2026, I shall have, definitely, definitely, my solo album out.”
He continued, “I’m really looking forward to that. I’m enjoying doing it. It’s been great fun, and I really, really hope you enjoy it, but I’ll keep you more up to date as we go on with what’s happening with that, and when it’s going to be released.”
Iommi has not released a solo album since Fused in 2005, and has previously discussed his ambition to make another record in recent years.
In his New Year’s Day message in 2023, Iommi confirmed that he had begun to work on the album in 2022, and it appears that he has finally managed to get close to completing the long-awaited project.
