Tom Morello uses Download Festival set to send message to Tommy Robinson
Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello sent a strong message to the far-right activist Tommy Robinson over the weekend.
Morello appeared at the rock festival, which is staged at Donington Park in England, on June 14th, and made his feelings abundantly clear regarding Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.
On the back of his guitar, he had written “Fuck Tommy Robinson,” which was picked up on the big screen as Morello held it up to the camera. The rock icon has since shared the image with his followers on his X account.
In the past, such as at Boston Calling in 2025, when he performed with a “Fuck Trump” backdrop behind him, Morello has used festivals to send similar messages.
Additionally, last week, at Rock for People in Czechia, he had “Smrt fasismu” written on the back of his guitar, which translates to “Death to fascism”.
Robinson has not yet responded to Morello’s statement against him at Download Festival.
On June 13th, the former English Defence League leader was detained at Heathrow Airport under section three of the Counter-Terrorism Border Security Act 2019, having his phones seized, per The Guardian.
Meanwhile, Morello recently released the anti-fascist anthem, titled ‘Adjourn It’, which also features his 15-year-old son, Roman.
The song, set to appear on Morello’s forthcoming untitled solo album from independent record label Mom + Pop, opens with the cry, “Make them pay for their crimes, adjourn it, never buy their racist lies, unearth it, help our brother sisters stay, they’ve earned it.”
He described the song as “a clarion call for justice in unjust times“, explaining how it was :inspired by the persecution of immigrants across the land and the heroic resistance to the rising tide of fascism, it’s just about damn time to rock for freedom, justice and equality.”
