Tom Holland admits some of his previous films are “shit”
After landing his biggest blockbuster role as Telemachus in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Tom Holland is looking back on some of his earlier career choices in a less-than-favourable light.
The 30-year-old actor has had a busy schedule as of late, while promoting both The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which are hitting cinemas only a handful of weeks after one another.
In a new interview on the Dish Podcast, Holland shared that he is “loving” his current press tour schedule: “When you’re doing press for movies that you’re really proud of, it’s really easy.”
He added, “When they ask you questions about why should people go and watch this movie, you’re you’re you’re not lying to anyone. You really feel like people should go and see it.”
However, the actor admitted that this isn’t always the case: “You know, I’ve had experiences before when people say like, ‘why should you see this movie?’ and in the back of your mind it’s like, ‘you shouldn’t, because it’s shit‘.”
In comparison to the dreary old days, Holland confessed that this summer has felt more like a “Victory lap to be honest. I’ve really enjoyed it, you know, I’m super proud of both of the films.”
Holland’s breakout role came early in his career, when playing Lucas Bennett in the tragic 2012 tsunami movie, The Impossible. He has since starred in a wide array of films, including 2016’s The Lost City of Z and 2020’s The Devil All the Time.
Recently, Holland revealed that his next project will be a biopic of Fred Astaire; crucially, the Spider-Man star will be doing all the dancing himself.
In a different interview on his hectic press run, Holland admitted, “I did my first few rehearsals recently, and it both filled me with excitement and absolute dread because I’ve got so much work to do to try and do Fred proud.”
