Tom Hardy's 'Venom' surpasses 'Wonder Woman', 'Spider-Man' and 'Deadpool' at the international box office

Tom Hardy’s new Venom film continues to climb the box office leaderboard and has surpassed some of its biggest rivals in the market.

Hardy, who plays the role of Eddie Brook, an investigative journalist who becomes the host of alien symbiote Venom, previously hinted that the film had scrapped some of its more entertaining scenes but that hasn’t stopped its commercial success.

According to new reports, the film has smashed passed the $800million barrier at the international box office this. Its success has seen the Ruben Fleischer directed picture scoop $822.5million in total and, subsequently, officially becoming more successful than the likes of Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, and Deadpool.

The international success of the film can be largely thanked to its popularity in China, a country that has seen the film amass a return of $242.9 million alone. Venom is now officially the second highest grossing superhero film of all time, only Black Panther ahead of it in the box office rankings.
