Tom Hardy admits “body is falling to bits” following various on-set injuries

Tom Hardy has admitted his “body is falling to bits now” after sustaining years’ worth of injuries while performing stunts on the sets of various Hollywood blockbusters.

In an interview for Esquire, the actor opened up about his various health struggles, revealing: “I’ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back, I’ve got sciatica as well. And I have that… is it plantar fasciitis?”

Hardy continued: “Where did that come from? And why? Why?! And I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It’s like, it’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”

The actor has become synonymous with taking on a number of high-octane roles, from his most recent turn in crime thriller Mobland on Paramount+ to the Venom films as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, Hardy admitted that he would be open to receiving “all the stem cells” to aid his injury recoveries, adding: “I think if it comes down to the wire and it seems the sensible thing to do and I take advice.”

It comes after the actor recently revealed that a crossover film between his superhero character Venom and Tom Holland’s Spiderman came extremely close to almost happening, implying that it ultimately never came about due to politics between relevant studio heads.

He said: “Fundamentally, for me, it would be for the kids. Because, you know, as much as adults love superhero films, as you can tell by the box office when they’re successful, I think I’m constantly reminded by children how important these characters are. And they don’t know why their favourite characters aren’t in films together.”
