Tom Cruise confirms his new movie is titled ‘Digger’ and shares cryptic teaser

Warner Bros have confirmed Alejandro G Iñárritu’s mysterious new movie starring Tom Cruise is titled Digger.

Additionally, Warner Bros has released a poster for the upcoming movie, as well as a 49-second title teaser soundtracked by the Gorillaz track, ‘O Green World’.

The new clip doesn’t provide any clue to the plotline of Digger, but it certainly paints a left-field scene for the movie, which has been given the tagline of “a comedy of catastrophic proportions”.

Digger was shot in the United Kingdom, with the process beginning in late 2024. It has been given a release date of October 2nd, 2026.

Iñárritu wrote the script for Digger in 2023 with his Birdman collaborators Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, along with Sabina Berman.

The upcoming film also stars Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed and Sophie Wilde opposite Cruise.

In a recent interview, Stuhlbarg said of Digger, “This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever been a part of in my life. It’s fantastic. My God, I can’t wait to see how it is.”

While he remained tight-lipped on any concrete details surrounding the movie, Stuhlbarg added: “I arrived in October and left in May — it was the longest shoot I’ve ever done. I can’t say much more than that.”

Notably, Digger marks director Iñárritu’s first return to English-language film since The Revenant, which won Leonardo DiCaprio his first Academy Award, was released in 2016.
