Title and plot revealed for Brad Pitt’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ spin-off

Brad Pitt will return to our screens for more sass and gore in the Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood spin-off, the title of which has now been revealed as The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth.

Pitt will continue to play Cliff Booth, who previously rewrote history by slaughtering the Manson family, after they accidentally targeted the wrong house. The movie ends on a light note, one with an ominous undertone, as Pitt is assimilated into the Hollywood community. He becomes friends with Sharon Tate and her husband, Roman Polanski, in an alternate reality from our own.

“David Fincher will direct Pitt for Netflix what I’ve heard is called The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth, where the stuntman becomes a Hollywood studio fixer,” Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr said in a recent interview he conducted with Sinners collaborators Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan.

A “studio fixer” worked in old-school Hollywood to cover up the tracks left by misbehaving Hollywood talent. This role is likely to get him in all sorts of trouble.

The Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood sequel news broke back on April 1st, when The Playlist reported that Quentin Tarantino has been working on a new script derived from the original.

A major reason this project is likely to happen is the deal struck between Tarantino and Sony, which financed the original. Their agreement maintains that while Sony owns Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood, Tarantino owns the characters. This separate story is likely far enough from the original to honour that deal.

Fincher’s exclusivity to Netflix suggests that The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth will likely become a direct-to-streaming release. There is currently no release date attached to the project.
