Timothée Chalamet puts alter-ego rumours to bed and teams up with EsDeeKid

Timothée Chalamet has finally put to rest the rumours that his alter-ego is a Liverpudlian rapper, EsDeeKid, after collaborating with him on a new version of his top 40 hit, ‘4Raws’.

Recently, social media has been abuzz with the rumour that the anonymous Scouse artist was actually an elaborate alter ego created by global superstar Chalamet.

The rumours grew so large that Chalamet has been asked about it multiple times. During an appearance on UK radio station Heart, the Call Me By Your Name actor asked if he was, in fact, EsDeeKid.

He responded coyly: “All will be revealed in due time.”

It seems that the time is now. Posting on social media, the pair appeared to resurrect Chalamet’s hip-hop moniker in high school, Lil Timmy Tim, for a verse in EsDeeKid’s hit song, ‘4Raws’.

At the beginning of the video, Chalamet nods to the rumours by only showing his eyes, the only part of EsDeeKid’s face he allows on show. Eventually, he drops his bandana to rap the lyrics “It’s Timothée Chalamet chillin, tryna stack a hundred million, girl got a billion,” seemingly in reference to his relationship with makeup mogul Kylie Jenner.

He goes on to reference his soaring acting career, sharing, “Since 2017, I’m living the dream,” before giving a hearty shoutout to his upcoming movie, Marty Supreme.

Chalamet then delivers the lines “Got model bitches in Peckham, I’m Ryan Reynolds in Wrexham, I’m having fun just sexting,” later going on to reference the Oscars to his name and his involvement in the Dune series.

In the accompanying video, shot in Andover Minimarket Off Licence in north London, the pair bounce around, as Chalamet raps his verse to the camera dramatically.

The actor’s new movie, directed by Josh Safdie, stars Chalamet as ping-pong player Marty Mauser, who is on the pursuit of following his dreams in table tennis. Gwyneth Paltrow also stars as the wife of a rival player, with whom Chalamet becomes romantically entangled.

Chalamet’s commitment to the new movie has been second-to-none; he has been preparing for the role for seven years. “Everything I was working on, it was this secret,” he explained. “I had a table in London while I was making Wonka. On Dune 2, I had a table in Budapest, Jordan. I had a table in Abu Dhabi.”

Marty Supreme is out in cinemas in the UK on December 26th.
