Timothée Chalamet refuses to deny rumours he’s EsDeeKid: “All will be revealed”

Timothée Chalamet has finally responded to the far-fetched rumours that he’s secretly Liverpudlian rapper EsDeeKid.

Since releasing his first single in 2024, EsDeeKid has become one of the biggest names in British rap and has even blown up in the United States. However, despite his success, the star’s identity remains a mystery.

Although EsDeeKid, who boasts 11.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, raps in a thick Scouse accent, last month, social media became awash with fan theories claiming that it was an elaborate character created by the Marty Supreme actor.

Since the rumours began, interest in EsDeeKid has only continued to grow stratospherically, and neither he nor Chalamet had commented publicly on the rumours until now.

Now, on December 11th, during an appearance on UK radio station Heart, hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden heavily probed Chalamet on the speculation regarding whether he’s EsDeeKid, but the Oscar-nominee remained tight-lipped.

“I got no comment on that,” Chalamet’s response began. He then added, “No, I mean, I’ve got two words on that…,” before taking a comically long pause.

After allowing for what felt like a lifetime of dead air, Chalamet finally said, “All will be revealed in due time.” He also joked, “That was a little more than two words.”

While seemingly there’s no genuine basis for the fan theory that Chalamet is the mysterious Scouse rapper, the actor is, at least, having fun by fanning the flames of the rumour mill even further with his latest comments.

The actor’s new movie, directed by Josh Safdie, stars Chalamet as ping-pong player Marty Mauser, who is on the pursuit of following his dreams in table tennis. Gwyneth Paltrow also stars as the wife of a rival player, who becomes romantically entangled with Mauser.

The role, which has already created an Oscars buzz for Chalamet, has been a passion project for the New Yorker over the past seven years, who travelled everywhere with a ping-pong table during that time.

Marty Supreme is set to arrive in UK cinemas on December 26th, 2025.
