Tilda Swinton, who has always cut an ethereal presence on the big screen, will now star in a Martin Scorsese-produced ghost story – The Eternal Daughter. Though not a classic genre for Scorsese to operate in, one assumes he will bring his golden touch to proceedings.
Whilst the producer tag can sometimes prove a red herring there is enough pedigree behind this project to suggest Scorsese will be left without pie on his face.
The story takes place in what is described as, “a once-grand manor that has become a nearly vacant hotel brimming with mystery.” With plot details, according to Deadline, which pertain to “a middle-aged daughter and her elderly mother who must confront long-buried secrets when they return to their former family home.”
The mystery drama which was filmed in secret in Wales during the UK’s previous lockdown is yet to receive a release date, but the project looks to be currently in the post-production phase.
The movie is directed by Joanna Hogg who has previously paired-up with Swinton on The Souvenir and The Souvenir Part 2, which is set to be released later this year. The mystery with also star Joseph Mydell, Carly Davies and Alfie Sankey-Green.
While we know very little about the project right now, the cast and the associated names suggest this could be one of the bigger projects of the immediate future. Here’s hoping we get to see the release in the comfort of a cinema soon.
