Thom Yorke has scored a new movie, ‘Confidenza’

Radiohead and The Smile frontman Thom Yorke has composed the score for a new film, Confidenza.

The musician previously helmed the score for Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria, based on Dario Argento’s classic horror. Featuring tracks like ‘Volk’ and ‘Open Again’, the soundtrack received widespread acclaim.

Yorke even earned a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Song Written for Visual Media’ with the song ‘Suspirium’, although he lost out to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

He’s now returning with his second feature-length score for Daniele Luchetti’s new film, which is set to premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam this week.

The film follows a teacher who becomes the object of fascination for one of his young students. They end up getting romantically involved a few years later, although their relationship is inevitably doomed.

Discussing Confidenza, Luchetti described it as being about “an entire life that is conditioned by fear of being unmasked by your loved one.” He explained that this “loved one” is “the only person whom, in a moment of abandonment, the protagonist trusts entirely.”

Yorke is also busy with The Smile at the moment, his side project with Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet’s Tom Skinner. The trio are set to release their second album, Wall of Eyes, on January 26th before embarking on a tour.

The run of dates will begin at the 3Arena in Dublin on March 7th before visiting Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam. The trio will then play a handful of shows in the UK, concluding at London’s Alexandra Palace on March 24th.
