Revisit The xx covering classic house track ‘Finally’ live in session

We’re dipping into the Far Out Magazine Vault to uncover The xx’s cover of Kings Of Tomorrow track ‘Finally’ to get us through another day of self-isolation.

Almost seven years to the day since Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie XX entered Radio 1’s Live Lounge, we’re revisiting the unique cover of Sandy Rivera’s song which was originally released in 2000 through Distance Records.

In what marked the second time the band had joined Phil Taggart and Alice Levine in the BBC studio, The xx were promoting their second studio album Coexist while putting their own silky spin on the iconic house number.

Given Jamie xx’s astounding work as a producer, he and bandmates Madley and Sim were able to transform Rivera’s work and make it a quintessential xx number while suitably playing homage to the original version.
