‘The White Lotus’ is coming to Cannes Film Festival for season four

The fourth season of The White Lotus will be set during the coveted Cannes Film Festival, HBO has confirmed.

The streaming provider also announced that filming has officially begun in the French Riviera. An official statement reads, “The fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Film Festival.”

Specific hotels depicted will include the Airelles Château de la Messardière as the White Lotus du Cap and the Hôtel Martinez as the White Lotus Cannes.

Though the main location will be the Côte d’Azur, the season will also film in St. Tropez, Monaco, and Paris.

The casting this year includes Harry Potter legend Helena Bonham Carter, as well as Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz.

Rounding out this list, additional cast includes Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer, and Laura Smet.

The satirical, sociopolitical series roots most of its storyline in the location of each hotel to explore the global ramifications of specific plotlines depicted and explored by writer Mike White.

The first season was limited by pandemic-era travel; it was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, where cast and crew stayed during the entire filming period.

In the second season, White followed a group of guests at Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in Taormina. Filming took place in various parts of Sicily.

Premiering in 2025, the third season showcased diverse areas in Thailand, mostly centring around the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui.

The real-life Cannes Film Festival takes place between May 12th and May 23rd this year, and will feature new films from filmmakers such as Pedro Almodóvar and Ira Sachs, and tributes to Barbra Streisand and Peter Jackson.
