The Strokes to perform at Bernie Sanders rally
New York City indie rockers, The Strokes, have confirmed their intentions to perform live as part of a rally in support of Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign.
The event, titled ‘The Get Out the Vote Concert Rally’, will take place at the Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, New Hampshire, on February 10th as Sanders steps up his efforts for the Democratic Party.
“We are honoured to be associated with such a dedicated, diligent, & trustworthy patriot—and fellow native New Yorker,” Julian Casablancas said in a statement.
He added: “As the only truly non-corporate candidate, Bernie Sanders represents our only chance to overthrow corporate power and help return America to democracy. This is why we support him.”
The Strokes are the latest name to be associated in support of Sanders as the event takes place just ten days after Bon Iver perform at the Horizon Events Center in Clive, Iowa and Vampire Weekend play an acoustic set at a Sanders rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
