The National share concert film ‘Guilty Party: Basilica Hudson’ produced by La Blogothèque
The National have debuted a previously unseen concert film called Guilty Party: Basilica Hudson through their YouTube page.
The footage which was produced by French filmmakers La Blogothèque and filmed back in July 2017, shortly before the release of Sleep Well Beast and features guest musicians such as on Mars, Buke and Gase, and So Percussion.
The concert is being released as part of The National’s weekly live stream archival series titled ‘An Exciting Communal Event’ which sees the band share old footage “from their vaults” on YouTube Live once a week. The aim of the series is to raise money for their road crew struggling from the effects of the current pandemic which is stopping them from accessing their only source of income.
Guilty Party: Basilica Hudson was filmed during a special ‘in the round’ performance at New York venue Basilica Hudson where they showcased 2017 album, Sleep Well Beast before it’s release. The show was advertised at the time as being “an intimate, one-of-a-kind release party” featuring live video projection mapping by artist Casey Reas, thankfully it was recorded so we can all now devour it at our pleasure.
The film captures The National at their moving best and captures them in a settling like never before, check out their career spanning setlist below along with the show.
