The Maccabees announce intimate charity gig to kick off reunion
The Maccabees have announced that they are set to perform an intimate charity gig in aid of the MS Society ahead of their UK and European comeback shows this summer.
The band, reuniting for their first live performance in over eight years, will put on the gig at The Dome in Tufnell Park, London, on June 20th, with only 300 tickets available.
The MS Society has been chosen as the beneficiary of the concert due to guitarist brothers Felix and Hugo White’s personal connection to the charity, as their mother lived with the disease and sadly passed away when they were teenagers.
Felix White said: “This show means a lot to us as MS is a cause close to our hearts. When we knew the band were getting back together, we really wanted to do something again to support the MS Society. We’re really excited this has come together – it’s going to be a special night.”
Hugo White also added: “Our mum had MS so we know the devastating effect it can have on young people and families. We’ve always done what we can to raise awareness and funds for the MS Society, and we’re delighted to be able to put on this show.”
The Maccabees have supported the MS Society frequently throughout their tenure, with the brothers being made ambassadors to the charity in 2016.
The ballot for tickets is open now, where fans can apply for up to two tickets each for a donation of £5 per entry. The ballot will close on June 2nd, and those successful will then be charged a further £20 per ticket.
Following the charity gig, The Maccabees will headline the Park Stage at Glastonbury and then embark on a UK and Ireland tour in August, taking in stops in Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, before the biggest headline show of their career in August at All Points East in London.
