The Kinky Fingers – Day In, Day Out

The Kinky Fingers are an American Rock, and “Santa Fe” Surf trio whose sounds pull from the vaults and traditions of American music coast to coast, Canada to Mexico; blending elements of 50s and 60s rock, western swing, surf music, country, folk, jazz and the blues.

There’s quite a tale to their inception too, frontman, poet and multi-instrumentalist Tayler Doyle learned to play guitar while working as a prison guard for two developmentally disabled sex offenders in rural northern Colorado. He was later fired for “having too much musical equipment”.

When he wasn’t accepted into Jazz school he dropped out of university to travel around the country to his favorite musician’s childhood hometowns; a pilgrimage that would take him from Hibbing Minnesota to New Orleans, crisscrossing through the south, along highway 61, and eventually to Austin, Texas. He learned the American roots musics organically while playing in local music clubs and coffee shops along the way and when Doyle returned he started a new band: The Kinky Fingers. Here they are.
