The Hives call on cover bands to create a non-stop rock franchise

It’s no secret that The Hives are one of the best live bands on the planet at the moment. With each new record comes a sold-out tour and support slots with some of the biggest bands in recent decades, including the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters and AC/DC to name a few.

With so many gigs under their belt and a live sound that seems to get better and better, the demand for the five-piece is only going up. They claim it has gotten to a point where they are no longer able to keep up with it and so are calling on their fans for help.

“The Hives franchise needs you,” wrote the band in a recent statement, “help us create a world where The Hives are playing in every city, all the time. Let’s make business together and rock ‘n’ roll.”

Songs such as Hate To Say I Told You So and Walk Idiot Walk have an energetic quality which makes it hard not to be enticed the minute they start playing. On top of that, the recognisable catchy choruses mean they’re perfect songs for new bands playing their first gigs and looking to get a crowd on their side.

It’s not unreasonable to suggest that a number of modern bands will have a Hives cover in their repertoire, and for them, this looks like an excellent opportunity to play some fun gigs, increase exposure and work on their live performance.

The news comes as The Hives are currently wrapping up their remaining gigs of 2023 and preparing for the 2024 leg of their tour, which sees them travel around the UK, Europe and America. Many dates have already sold out as the band’s live reputation continues to draw crowds
