The Cure confirmed to headline Rock En Seine in Paris
The Cure have confirmed their live comeback after being announced as headliners of Rock En Seine in Paris.
The French festival is set to run in the capital again next summer, and The Cure will be bringing the event to a close with a headline set on August 30th. Tickets are set to go on sale on September 17th at 17:00 local time.
The announcement of The Cure as a headline act at Rock En Seine marks their return to the French event for the first time since 2019. It is also their first concert to be confirmed for 2026, suggesting that further dates in Europe are on the horizon.
Their most recent tour took place in late 2023, when they ventured across South America. In recent years, they have also completed extensive tours of the United Kingdom, Europe and North America.
However, following the release of their first album in 16 years, 2024’s Songs of a Lost World, they have only played one full-length show, which took place at The Troxy in London on the day the album arrived last November.
In a four-star review, Far Out said of the album: “In Songs Of A Lost World, the exquisite guitar work and meticulously produced rhythmic cadences complement all the unspoken words, revealing a more immersive side to The Cure, where the haunt of a perturbed mind lingers in the subtleties. Ambience is a prominent force in modern music, and here its vagueness is anything but background.”
Next March, Robert Smith will take over from Roger Daltrey as the curator of a series of gigs hosted at the Royal Albert Hall in London in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. However, no line-up has yet to be released, and it’s unclear whether The Cure will take to the stage.
Last week, Olivia Rodrigo shared live recordings of her performances with Smith during her headline set at Glastonbury Festival this summer. The duo delighted the Pyramid Stage with versions of ‘Friday I’m In Love’ and ‘Just Like Heaven’.
