The Cribs have announced that their eighth studio album, Night Network, is set to arrive on November 13th and the Wakefield band of brothers have also released the blistering new single ‘Running Into You’.
The new record comes following a turbulent time with the band which led to what Gary Jarman described as a “legal morass” after a split with their long-time management which prevented the band from releasing or even recording new music.
The trio’s knight in shining armour came in the form of Dave Grohl who offered up the Foo Fighters’ Studio 606 in Los Angeles for the band as they enjoyed some post-show drinks with him after supporting the Foo’s at the Etihad Stadium in 2018.
“Dave was just like, ‘Forget about all that business stuff, just come out to LA and make a record at our studio’ – Dave made that offer to us,” Ryan Jarman recalled. They didn’t initially take him up on the offer with Ryan adding, “At one point we were actually so disillusioned with what had happened, we didn’t even know if we wanted to get back into the band any more.
After reuniting after spending Christmas together in Wakefield with Gary and Ryan travelling over from the States — that desire to create returned. They then reached out to Dave to take up his offer and a few months later Night Network was born.
Their eighth record is the first that is fully self-produced and also features another collaboration with Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo who previously featured on 2007’s ‘Be Safe’. The first taste of the new record is the blistering new single ‘Running Into You’ which is a perfect way to announce their return in true Cribs style.
