It’s a cold, dank and dark Sunday, so you would expect us to be bringing you some easy listening; a sunny piece of gentle, pillow filled comatose. Well, today you would be wrong. Our Track Of The Day is a little more confrontational – The Bohicas soon to be on the NME Radar Tour now join their fellow touring bands with their track ‘XXX’ a seething and knowing combination of screaming guitars and fly ridden depravity. Also, because we are kind and generous bunch here at Far Out, it’s a double header and the equally sweaty and urgent tune ‘Swarm’ buzzes it’s way in to your conscience.

Coming from the Essex badlands that surround the inexplicable East End of London they have with the short film below introduced us into the world of The Bohicas. A world of fast paced, testosterone laced, grit filled rock and roll. It’s intense, it’s demanding – it’s The Bohicas.

Accompanying this crucible of possessed guitars and deadpan vocals is the guile and forthright impatience of a band who are looking to set the world alight. The recent influx of rock and roll to fill our shores has been of the experimental, incidental and transcendental, this however, is brimming with sneering attitude and a voice that demands to be heard.

XXX firstly, is a dip into the seedy underworld of our fair Nation, a glimpse of the UV light nights we all find ourselves adrift in. A sea of hormones, horrors and tension that drown every weekend is quickly scythed through with a screeching guitar and omnipotent vocal.

Secondly, there is Swarm which as you might expect surrounds your ears and delivers the thundering bass of a juggernaut with the delicacy of a glinting samurai sword. All of this backdropped by a glisteningly putrid video which is part horror film, part k-hole and entirely worth watching.

The Bohicas having only released this double header last week are signed on Domino Records and already starting to prove their signatures were worth the effort. They look set to grab a piece of the market left empty since Bloc Party went flaccid and YYYs dried up.

With XXX and Swarm The Bohicas look like the perfect little blue pill to re-envigorise the ailing and ethereal country who’ve taken too many tranqs. The Bohicas and that sweat dripping, dry mouthed urgency are what has been missing; a real band to shake the scene to the core.
