The Beatles classic Paul McCartney reportedly performed at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding

Paul McCartney was reportedly among the guest musical performers at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding in New York.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and the NFL said their vows at a ceremony which took place inside the world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3rd.

Since then, it has emerged that comedian and actor Adam Sandler was tasked with officiating the ceremony. The former SNL star previously worked with Kelce on Happy Gilmore 2.

Now, People reports that McCartney took to the stage during the reception to deliver a rendition of The Beatles’ classic ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’.

Famously, the track, released in 1964, was the song responsible for kicking off Beatlemania in the United States following their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, which helped it become their first number one single in America.

One of the wedding attendees, Robin Roberts, also confirmed on Good Morning America that Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks performed at the wedding, telling the US breakfast show on July 4th, “We can confirm that, yes, Stevie Nicks did perform.”

However, the Good Morning America host did not reveal which songs Nicks performed at the reception, or if she was joined by any special guests.

Nicks and Swift share a close bond, with the Fleetwood Mac singer recently opening up about how ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid’ from 2022’s Midnights helped her grieve Christine McVie, telling the New York Times, “You ask about her brilliance. I can only say, ‘If only I had written it’. For me, this song will always live in my heart.”

“I feel that her song is generational. I think it’s all of her relationships written into one song — a little bit of this, a little bit of that — and dropped into my lap,” Nicks said, adding, “It makes me cry for both of us — what we lost, what we learned and how we survived.”

Meanwhile, McCartney has also praised Swift’s songwriting skills. During an interview with BBC Radio 2, he shared, “Going more to modern day, I like a lot of… there’s a lot of girl singers, and there wasn’t when we were kids. It was all guys for a long time, I’ve met a few of these girls and admired what they’re doing. I think they are good singers, Taylor (Swift) is very good. She’s very clever.”

McCartney then compared her success with The Beatles, adding, “You do see the parallel, you know like, fame and the amount of fame, and the worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had. But, I don’t think she needs any advice, to tell you the truth.”

Following the release of his latest album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, Swift took to social media to give it her seal of approval, writing on Instagram Stories, “Never not inspired by this eternally exceptional artist.”
