‘The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event’: James Norton and David Morrissey among new casting additions

Sam Mendes has confirmed further casting for his upcoming series of Fab Four biopics, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event.

The set of films will explore the story of The Beatles from the perspectives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They are set to be released in cinemas in 2028, which Sony has hailed as “the first bingeable theatrical experience.

The all-star cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, and Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono.

Now, the cast has grown further with David Morrissey as McCartney’s father, Jim McCartney, Leanne Best as Lennon’s Aunt Mimi, and James Norton as the Fab Four’s manager Brian Epstein.

Meanwhile, Harry Lloyd has been confirmed as the band’s trusted producer, George Martin, and Bobby Schofield will play their tour manager, Neil Aspinall. Another member of their inner circle, Mal Evans, is set to be played by Daniel Hoffman-Gill, and their press officer, Derek Taylor, will be brought to the screen by Arthur Darvill.

Lastly, the contentious character of Allen Klein, who became their manager in 1969 and caused the band’s relationship to become fractured, will be played by Adam Pally.

While the major players in The Beatles’ story have largely now been cast for the upcoming biopics, there have yet to be any announcements regarding who will play Lennon’s first wife, Cynthia Lennon, and Harrison’s close associate, Ravi Shankar.

The set of films, despite not arriving in the next two calendar years, are currently in production, and in the summer, the four lead actors set to play the band underwent Beatles bootcamp.

Providing a peek behind the curtain, Mescal revealed in September of his daily routine, “Average day is: We get up, we go out to Bobbington — which is about an hour and a quarter drive — listening to the Beatles in the car.”

The Irish actor continued, “Then we go in, and we try to walk, talk, play, think like the Beatles. Then we get in the car, listen to the Beatles, and go home.”
