Teenage gang targetting celebrities homes break into Brad Pitt’s property
The Los Angeles Police Department have linked a break-in at Brad Pitt‘s residence in June to a group of teenage burglars who are specifically targeting celebrities.
Police chief Jim McDonnell announced the arrest of four suspects who were targeting various high-profile residents throughout the city. He shared that “some of the burglaries included homes of actors and professional athletes”.
Though Pitt’s name was not explicitly mentioned, the event of his flat’s burglary was. It occurred on June 25th in the 2300 block of North Edgemont Drive. It was burglarised while the actor was on the promotional tour for the recent blockbuster, F1. The suspects scaled his fence and broke into the home through a front window.
McDonnell said: “Three masked suspects scaled a perimeter fence, approached the glass window and used a tool to shatter that window. They entered the residence, removed property, and then fled.”
Other recent high-profile victims have included Nicole Kidman, Austin Butler, and the French footballer Olivier Giroud.
A surveillance operation helped track down the four suspects, all between the ages of 16 and 18. The operation also recovered numerous items that they had taken.
According to the police, the youths used WiFi jammers to disable surveillance cameras. They had also used social media to track celebrities, ensuring they only struck when their apartments were empty.
Pitt’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, has had a similar attack on her home, though not from the same group. In May of this year, a man crashed a car into her Bel Air property. He was subsequently charged with stalking and vandalism. He was later found mentally incompetent to stand trial.
In a lacklustre review of Brad Pitt’s F1, Far Out wrote, “Without Cruise, Kosinski’s attempt to make Top Gun for race cars feels visually spectacular, but a little hollow at its core. This is perhaps best represented by the romance between Pitt and Kerry Condon’s technical director Kate McKenna, which feels like Hollywood bullshit from the first minute they set eyes on each other. It’s in stark contrast to Cruise’s romance with Jennifer Connelly’s Penny in Maverick, which, against all the odds, felt lived-in, nuanced, and slightly melancholy.”
