Taylor Swift, Alanis Morissette and Kiss members inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame

Taylor Swift has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026.

The list of inductees was confirmed by the institution on January 21st on CBS Mornings. Swift’s inclusion makes her the artist to be recognised by the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Kiss’ Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, producer/songwriter Christopher ‘Tricky’ Stewart, Alanis Morissette, songwriting duo Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, Kenny Loggins and producer-songwriter Walter Afanasieff have also been named in the Class of 2026 alongside Taylor Swift.

For an artist to be eligible for induction, they must have been 20 years since their first recording was commercially released. Swift, aged 36, released her first single in 2006, which makes 2026 the first time she has been eligible to be on the ballot.

After Swift was shortlisted in November, Linda Moran, the president and CEO of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, confirmed to USA Today: “This is the youngest artist to ever appear on our ballot.”

In a statement, Songwriters Hall of Fame chairman Nile Rodgers said, “The music industry is built upon the incredible talent of songwriters who create unforgettable songs. Without their artistry, there would be no recorded music, concert experiences, or engaged fans.”

The Chic hitmaker continued, “Everything originates from the song and its creator. We take great pride in our ongoing commitment to recognizing some of the most culturally significant composers in history.”

He concluded by saying of the Class of 2026: “This year’s lineup not only showcases iconic songs but also celebrates unity across various genres. These songwriters have profoundly impacted the lives of billions of listeners worldwide, and it is our privilege to honor their contributions.”

The ceremony is scheduled to take place in New York City on June 11th, 2026, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. If any of the nominees are unavailable to make the occasion in person, their induction will be deferred for a year.
