Talking Heads to release ‘Psycho Killer’ video starring Saoirse Ronan to celebrate 50th anniversary

After previously teasing a special announcement on social media to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their first show, Talking Heads are set to release a new video for ‘Psycho Killer’ starring Saoirse Ronan.

Earlier this week, Talking Heads shared a cryptic post which included ‘Psycho Killer’ in the background along with the date, June 5th, 2025. Although many fans in the comment section expected this to be a reunion announcement, that is not the case. Instead, they will pay tribute to their first gig at CBGB’s with a new ‘Psycho Killer’ video.

In a later post on June 3rd, they shared a clip of Ronan brushing her teeth, with ‘Psycho Killer’ soundtracking the short video.

Then, a matter of hours later, another post confirmed the announcement. The caption reads: “To mark the 50th anniversary of the band’s first show at CBGB’s, the first official music video for ‘Psycho Killer’, directed by Mike Mills & starring Saoirse Ronan, will be released. Out June 5th, 2025.”

The first official video for ‘Psycho Killer’ is the latest project that Talking Heads have collaborated on in recent years, despite the band no longer being active.

In 2023, A24 re-released Talking Heads’ iconic concert film, Stop Making Sense. The band reunited for the first time in 20 years for a screening at the Toronto Film Festival and appeared to promote the movie on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

While speaking to Pitchfork in 2023, Tina Weymouth seemingly ruled out the prospect of a potential reunion, stating, “We’re just savouring the moment. We’re so happy that it’s resulted in this wonderful thing that’s lasted 40 years. And we’re not really looking too far into the future.”

She added: “We might be standing on the corner and a bus will knock us down. We’re super glad we’re alive. We’re all four here to enjoy this moment.”
