Young Fathers are a Scottish alternative music trio formed in Edinburgh in 2008 by Alloysious Massaquoi, Graham “G” Hastings and Kayus Bankole. Renowned for their genre-defying sound, the group blend hip hop, soul, post-punk, electronic music, pop, African rhythms and experimental production into a style that resists easy categorisation. They first gained widespread recognition with the Mercury Prize-winning debut album ‘Dead’ before further acclaim for ‘White Men Are Black Men Too’, ‘Cocoa Sugar’, ‘Heavy Heavy’ and the soundtrack to Danny Boyle’s ‘T2 Trainspotting’. Celebrated for their politically charged lyrics, adventurous songwriting and electrifying live performances, Young Fathers are regarded as one of the most innovative and important British acts of the 21st century.
