Yard Act are an English post-punk band formed in Leeds, West Yorkshire, in 2019.
Comprised of vocalist James Smith, guitarist Sam Shipstone, bassist Ryan Needham and drummer Jay Russell, the band have become one of the leading voices of Britain’s post-punk revival through their sharp social commentary, spoken-word delivery and infectious blend of post-punk, indie rock, dance-punk and funk. Their debut album, ‘The Overload’, topped the UK Independent Albums Chart and established them as one of the country’s most exciting new bands, while its follow-up, ‘Where’s My Utopia?’, further expanded their sound with elements of disco, soul and electronic music.
Renowned for their satirical lyrics and energetic live performances, Yard Act have emerged as one of the defining British guitar bands of the 2020s.
