The 1981 album that made Sting resent The Police: “Nightmare”
The wrong kind of feeling.

The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977, becoming one of the defining acts of the late 1970s and 1980s. Blending rock, reggae, punk and new wave influences, the trio developed a distinctive sound built around Sting’s songwriting, Andy Summers’ inventive guitar work and Stewart Copeland’s dynamic drumming.
After achieving international success with albums such as ‘Reggatta de Blanc’, ‘Ghost in the Machine’ and ‘Synchronicity’, the band became one of the world’s biggest-selling acts before disbanding in 1986. Their influence can be heard across generations of rock and pop musicians, while their critically acclaimed catalogue continues to attract new audiences.
The Police were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 and reunited for a successful world tour between 2007 and 2008.
