Genesis are an English rock band formed in Surrey in 1967, evolving from a progressive rock outfit into one of the most commercially successful bands of the 1970s and 1980s.
Originally fronted by Peter Gabriel, the group became renowned for elaborate live performances and ambitious concept albums before Phil Collins assumed lead vocal duties following Gabriel’s departure in 1975. Under Collins, Genesis embraced a more accessible pop rock sound while retaining sophisticated musicianship, producing a string of international hits.
