Sylvester Stallone movie ‘Expend4bles’ leads Razzie Awards nominations

As award season swings into full flow, Sylvester Stallone‘s latest Expendables movie, the fourth in the franchise, has endured the misfortune of picking up seven nominations at the Golden Raspberry Awards.

The latest Expendables film arrived a decade after the third instalment, which was cut off at the knees by watering itself down for a younger audience and leaked online in its entirety ahead of release. For the fourth movie, director Scott Waugh managed to reunite some of the band back together to for another gun-toting adventure.

However, not all of the original cast agreed to sign up for Expend4bles, and now it has been targetted by the Golden Raspberry’s, which highlights the biggest cinematic flops of the last twelve months. The film is the movie to “beat” at this year’s ceremony, having notched up seven nominations in total.

In addition to being shortlisted for ‘Worst Picture’, ‘Worst Director’, and ‘Worst Screenplay’, the sequel has seen Megan Fox recognised as a contender for ‘Worst Supporting Actress’. Furthermore, Stallone is up for a ‘Worst Supporting Actor’ nod, while “any two merciless mercenaries” from the film are in the running for ‘Worst Screen Couple.’

For those keeping count, Stallone has now racked up his 32nd Razzie nomination. With 11 wins already including ‘Worst Actor of the Decade’ for the 1980s and ‘Worst Actor of the Century’ for the entire period between 1900 and 1999, the actor could now add to his tally.

Outside of Expend4bles, horror is represented by five-time nominees The Exorcist: Believer and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, while Meg 2: The Trench and Shazam! Fury of the Gods round out the field for ‘Worst Picture’.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Fast X are among the other movies to feature prominently. The 44th edition of the Razzies is scheduled to take place on March 9th.
