Sydney Sweeney did not get permission to hang bras on Hollywood sign officials say

Sydney Sweeney did not get permission from local authorities to hang bras over the world-famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles in a promotional stunt for her underwear company, it has been revealed.

The actor posted about the stunt on her Instagram on January 26th, showing her and a small team loading up a van with the garments and then driving towards the landmark, where she then strung up bras over each of the letters.

However, according to the LA Times, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who owns the IP rights to the sign, said they did not grant permission for the stunt to be pulled off. Similarly, The Hollywood Sign Trust, who manages the site in the Hollywood hills, were not told about the incident.

Steve Nissen, the chief of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement: “Anyone intending to use and/or access the Hollywood Sign for commercial purposes must obtain a license or permission from the Hollywood Chamber to do so.”

He added: “The production involving Sydney Sweeney and the Hollywood Sign, as reported by TMZ, was not authorised by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce nor did we have prior knowledge of it.”

Despite this, the Los Angeles Police Division confirmed to the publication that no police report regarding trespassing for Sweeney or any of her associates has been filed to them at this time.

It has since emerged on January 27th that Sweeney is launching her own brand of women’s lingerie named Syrn, which says it is “lingerie you wear for YOU, no explanation, no apology” in its Instagram announcement post.

However, this is notably not the first time Sweeney has found herself under fire for an advertising campaign, as last year she sparked major controversy in light of her American Eagle advertisement.

The slogan for the campaign – “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans” – was seen as a reference to eugenics and the fact that Sweeney has blonde hair and blue eyes. The controversy escalated to the point where Donald Trump weighed in to support Sweeney, after it emerged that she was a registered Republican voter.
