Sydney Sweeney cameo cut from ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, report claims

Sydney Sweeney was set to make a cameo appearance in The Devil Wears Prada 2 before her scene was ultimately axed from the film, it has been reported.

The actor was reportedly due to feature as herself in the cut scene from the upcoming comedy sequel, featuring Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, returning to the fashion magazine landscape under the watchful and inimitable eye of her editor, Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep.

To this end, as the whole cast from the original 2006 movie reunites, there was set to be a scene in which Hathaway and Streep’s characters, along with Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling, planned to recruit their old colleague Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), who now works as the head of Dior in the US.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the scene was set to appear near the beginning of the film and provide more context as to what Blunt’s character had been doing since the events of the first film, with her seen dressing Sweeney as a celebrity client.

However, the outlet reports that the three-minute scene was cut from the final edit of the film as it did not fit structurally with the rest of the narrative, although the team behind the movie were reportedly grateful to Sweeney for her time.

Although Sweeney has not spoken publicly about being axed from the film, she has recently returned to Euphoria, the show that shot her to fame for her character Cassie Howard.

The latest third series of the HBO drama has received a more lukewarm response from the critics, with the characters appearing five years on from their high school lives and Cassie now being an OnlyFans model.

Outside of Euphoria, Sweeney became one of the most controversial names in the industry last year after she fronted an infamously disastrous American Eagle campaign, resulting in her Republican voter registration being revealed and Donald Trump putting his support behind her.

Although Sweeney has no immediate projects set for release, she is in the process of filming for the movies The Custom of the Country and Gundam.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set for release in cinemas on May 1st.
