Susan Boyle responds to Timothée Chalamet’s “incredibly touching” praise

Scottish singer Susan Boyle has her own message for Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet, after the actor recently showered her with praise.

Speaking during a promotional interview for his upcoming film, Marty Supreme, the star was asked to name his favourite Britons, and had a surprising answer for the fifth star to appear in his list: Susan Boyle.

Name-dropping the singer, who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent and went on to have two US number one albums, Chalamet said: “She dreamt big. She dreamt bigger than all of us. Who wasn’t moved by that? I remember it like it was yesterday.”

Now, it’s Boyle’s turn to respond to Chalamet, which she did with an official statement on her Instagram page. Alongside a picture of herself, a screenshot of the article sharing the news, and a picture of Chalamet, she wrote in the caption, “This has been so incredibly touching to read.”

Tagging the actor, she continued, “I’m very flattered. Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me.”

The British icon went on, “We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big! I wish you every success as you continue to dream your own dream.”

Speaking directly to the Call Me By Your Name actor, Boyle added, “Thank you for your kindness and for remembering that moment so fondly.”

She signed off “with love.” This post comes at the end of an eventful year for the singer, after she recently revealed that she has returned to the recording studio for the first time in six years. This suggests an eventual follow-up to her last album, 2016’s A Wonderful World.

As for Chalamet, he has yet to respond to her humble gratitude, but he has been busy with press appearances in support of the highly-anticipated ping-pong movie, which is set to arrive in UK cinemas on December 26th, 2025.
