After promising to produce five new albums before the end of 2017, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard remain on track after dropping their surprise new record Sketches of Brunswick East – their third LP this year.
The Australian pysch outfit premiered it by playing the record on their Facebook live stream and is inspired by Brunswick East, the Melbourne suburb in which King Gizzard write and record. “We’re always walking up and down the street all the time,” says frontman Stu Mackenzie. “Going to get coffee, lugging amps, just constantly wandering Lygon Street… seeing the terrain change as new apartment buildings are erected, watching the cranes build bigger cranes. In that respect, perhaps it represents greater changes that are happening in the wider world, and this is our attempt to find beauty within a place that we spend so much time.”
