Stevie Nicks opens up about shoulder injury that caused gig postponements: “I was in a lot of pain”

Stevie Nicks recently returned to the stage following a shoulder injury, and in Arizona, she opened up about the issue that caused her to postpone several concerts.

On August 1st, Nicks announced that all of her upcoming tour dates in August and September were postponed due to a shoulder injury. The tour eventually began at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, on October 1st.

At the time, a statement issued on Nicks’ behalf was published which explained the postponements were “due to a recent injury resulting in a fractured shoulder that will require recovery time”.

On October 7th, Nicks took to the stage at the Mortgage Matchup Centre in Phoenix, Arizona. In the middle of the show, while thanking the opening act Night Traveler, Nicks told the crowd in Arizona of her injury and how listening to their music was vital in her recovery.

In a clip later uploaded by Night Traveler to Instagram Stories, Nicks said: “I want you to know that when I got sick, I mean, I didn’t get sick, when I broke my shoulder for about eight weeks, I was like, pretty much in bed and in a lot of pain, and I listened to their music pretty much 98 per cent of the time.”

She continued, “And it’s like they were very, very influential in healing me. And I’m not saying that just to be a nice person, I’m telling you that because it’s true.”

Nicks then recommended her fans to do the same if they are also feeling low, adding, “So if you’re not feeling good and you need some just some loving words and sounds and guys in your life play that music because you’ll be happy you did.”

During the opening night of the tour in Portland, Nicks pulled out all the stops by performing ‘Angel’ from Fleetwood Mac’s 1979 album Tusk, a song she had not sung live since 1983.

Nicks will continue the rest of her tour until December 10th, her last scheduled date, when she will play Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. Notable stops along the way include the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on November 19th and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 11th.
