Steven Dove and Gian Battaglia announce new album, ‘Scend’

Steven Dove and Gian Battaglia have announced details of their new album, Scend, through the London/Marseille-based curators Cosmisch.

The new electronic album, which has been previewed today (February 10th) with the mind-bending lead single ‘Freak’, is set to arrive as a limited-edition cassette and across all digital platforms on March 13th.

Scend marks a step forward for Cosmisch as they move into the realm of releasing records after previously gaining a reputation in the respective nightlife scenes of London and Marseille.

The label promises that each record that arrives via Cosmisch will be a limited-run, as well as “crafted with love and detail”.

Scend is the follow-up record to Dove and Battaglia’s 2024 release, Alone @ Dusk, marking the logical progression in their collaborative partnership.

For part one of the album, the pair headed to the remote woods of North Yorkshire, which injected Scend with “a raw, intimate energy” that was influenced by the rural surroundings.

However, for part two of Scend, they opted for a different approach, working remotely from their respective studios in Marseille and London, which the press materials describe as a “free-wheeling journey that ebbs and flows” across the span of the record.

While Scend promises to derive from “a world of analogue electronica, spaced out textures, mesmerising rhythms, and studio experimentation”, there are also knowing nods to William Basinski, Pauline Anna Strom and even Krautrock across the record.
