St. Vincent shares some advice for teenage girls

Annie Clark, AKA ST. Vincent, was recently on the ‘Rookie’ Podcast with Tavi Gevinson for ‘Ask a Grown’. It’s a show that asks esteemed members of society to answer questions from any and every one.

She received a question from a teenage girl who had been suffering with moving to a new country and was dealing with some self-confidence issues. Annie obviously gave some pretty pertinent advice that her uncle had once given her.

“No one’s looking at you, and no one cares because everyone is obsessed with themselves.”

She went on to comfort the listener “I think the ‘faking it til you make it’ thing is very real. If you don’t have confidence, pretend to be a person who does, and eventually, you will have confidence because you’ll see the fruits of your reaching out to people”

Sound advice. Now, where’s that ‘Dear Agony Annie’ column?

Take a listen below to her recent collaboration with John Legend and Zach Galifianakis on Minnie Riperton’s ‘Lovin’ You’ and enjoy.
