Annie Clark, AKA St. Vincent, stopped by the Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love in Texas last week for a surprise performance. One track she covered was the legendary Joni Mitchell song ‘Coyote’.
While it isn’t the first time Clark has dropped by the Texan festival, she often arrives for a performance or two, Clark came this time to help out Houston musician Robert Ellis, as Brooklyn Vegan reports. She was there to pay tribute to the late Boyd Elder, the Texan multimedia artists who created art for countless musicians and counted Joni Mitchell as a close friend.
Clark performed in 2017, performing with Fiona Apple and in 2015 when she played the drums for Jenny Lewis, but this time she chose to stand centre stage and perform a touching cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Coyote’.
Known as the song she wrote while on the legendary Rolling Thunder Revue tour with Bob Dylan, it remains a standout single of an illustrious career. It also shows off St. Vincent as an artist able to easily carry off such a heavyweight track.
