Spike Lee is set to direct adaptation of David Byrne’s ‘American Utopia’
The legendary filmmaker Spike Lee has been confirmed as the director of a film adaptation of David Byrne’s Broadway Show, American Utopia.
As reported by Deadline, Spike Lee has signed on to direct the feature which will take the former Talking Heads man’s successful theatre show on to the big screen.
A feature length adaptation of the show is slated for a 2020 release date and will be executive produced by Byrne alongside Participant and Lee. Produced by Byrne’s Todomundo and Lee’s Forty Acres and a Mule Filmworks production companies, as well as RadicalMedia.

Deadline shared David Byrne’s statement about the film:
