South Park Halloween episode brings Melania Trump into the fold: “South Park sucks now”

South Park released a surprise Halloween episode only two episodes into season 28 and chose two new targets: Melanie Trump and their very own show.

In the new episode, titled ‘The Woman in the Hat’, the character Stan admits that “South Park sucks now” after he is forced to relocate to his grandfather’s retirement home due to his father losing his job at the USGS amid the government shutdown.

With deadpan wit, Stan quips, “Everyone knows it. South Park sucks now, and it’s because of all this political shit.” They use reality to their advantage; in an attempt to make the show better, the kids create a “South Park Sucks Now” crypto meme to break out of the retirement home.

The show also acknowledges, in reaction to fan comments, that key character Kenny has been largely absent from the latest season: “I haven’t even heard you say anything in like four months,” one of them says, which Kenny acknowledges in his laconic, muffled tone.

Meanwhile, over at the White House, the storyline between Satan and Donald Trump continues. Satan calls out Trump for demolishing the East Wing for his ballroom, because he thought the works were to build a nursery for their baby. Alongside Satan’s anger, the works unleashed a “wrath” which has led to his haunting by a Melania-shaped ghost.

To combat the ghost of the First Lady, the White House undertakes a seance, including senior advisor Stephen Miller, FCC chairman Brendan Carr, Kristi Noem, and Pam Bondi, whose nose is constantly covered in Trump’s faeces. JD Vance and Peter Thiel’s ongoing scheme to kill Trump and Satan’s baby is almost uncovered.

The special episode is the second instalment in season 28. The last episode of season 27, titled ‘Conflict of Interest’, was intended for broadcast on September 17th, but the creators delayed the release hours before it was meant to go live. It was their first episode since the assassination of Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, whom they had parodied in an earlier episode.
