Sons of Kiss’ Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley unveil debut single as Stanley Simmons
Stanley Simmons, a band comprising the sons of Kiss legends Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, have shared their debut single.
The duo is made up of Evan Stanley and Nick Simmons, who announced their arrival to the world on December 5th with the acoustic-led and psychedellic-tinged ‘Body Down’, which is a far cry from the music their fathers made together in the hellraising hair-metal group.
Evan also shared a video message on Instagram to share his gratitude with fans, stating, “It feels awesome” to release the song into the world.
He also acknowledged the significance of the song, revealing, “It’s surreal in a lot of ways ’cause it’s one of the first songs we wrote together.”
During an appearance on KTLA 5 earlier this week, Evan said of the band’s influences, “We grew up loving a lot of roots stuff, Americana, folk, so you hear a lot of that in there. It really has nothing to do with what our dads do. The interesting thing is that we do actually have a lot of the same influences.”
Nick also revealed that he’s received praise for the musical from his father, sharing, “My father is the master of the backhanded compliment, he was like, ‘This is much better than the last thing you showed me’, and I was like, ‘Oh, you said some nice things about that’, and he goes, ‘Nothing compared to this’.”
Evan then said that both Stanley and Simmons have been “unbelievably supportive” of Stanley Simmons, while also noting, “When somebody is honest with you, when they say something is great, it’s actually worthwhile and means something.”
As it stands, the duo have no tour dates in the calendar.
Last month, Kiss reunited, despite retiring in 2023, for a special performance on the landlocked Kiss Kruise in Las Vegas, which saw the band pay homage to their late guitarist Ace Frehley, who died in October.
