Montreal guitar and drum duo Solids will see their debut album, Blame Confusion, released on February 18 via Fat Possum Records. Formed by guitarist Xavier Germain-Poitras and Louis Guillemette on drums, Solids have been built on the premise that melody never shines as much as when it is forced to fight its way through many layers of distortion and feedback. Blame Confusion, recorded by Adrian Popovich at Mountain City Studio (We Are Wolves, Sam Roberts, The Dears), stays true to that idea.
Influenced by bands from the 90’s, like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and Superchunk, their first EP released in 2010, Generic Dogs, united fans of chaotic choruses under the banner of their intense rock. Solids have already played SXSW, Osheaga, Pop Montreal and The Fest and now an extensive North American tour announcement will see the band hit the road in tandem with their February release, featuring ten shows in Canada, including two nights in Montreal, and a wide run of The U.S.
