A brand new track from Soccer Mommy always makes our day a little better. And today feels no different with the Nashville native’s latest track ‘lucy’ making us all feel a little happier in the office despite being about the devil. It’s our Track of the Day.
Sophie Allison, aka Soccer Mommy, has been honing her talent for some time now and that dedication to her craft shines through on ‘lucy’. It’s a song built upon juxtaposition as at times the sonics glitter over the dark content of the song, adding a sparkle to an otherwise challenging subject matter.
Allison said of the track: “‘lucy’ is a really fun song for me because it has a dark, evil vibe. It’s a song about struggling with inner demons and your own morality, but I masked it with this scenario of being seduced by the devil. I’m really excited to share this with everyone because I think it shows a different side of my writing.”
The song comes following a few years of extensive touring for Allison. Opening for the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Paramore, and Liz Phair, selling out countless headline shows, and making her festival debuts at Coachella, Governor’s Ball, Primavera Sound, and more. She’s been plugging away to make herself the best songwriter and performer she can.
Starting next week, she continues touring with some of her biggest shows to date, supporting Vampire Weekend and then Wilco.
With a new album being hotly anticipated by her fans as well as most musos, the future is looking brighter every day fro Soccer Mommy.
