Snoop Dogg to star in Eli Roth’s ‘Don’t Go in That House, Bitch!’
Snoop Dogg is set to star in Eli Roth‘s upcoming movie, Don’t Go in That House, Bitch!
It had previously been announced that Snoop Dogg was a producer on Roth’s upcoming horror movie, for both the film and the soundtrack.
Now, as per Variety, the rapper is slated to step in front of the camera. Roth explained that Snoop Dogg has “been wanting to do Death Row Films for a long time.”
Roth continued, “I said we need to make the ultimate haunted house movie, like the craziest one, something that mixes House, House by the Cemetery, Hausu, and Friday, the 13th, like something so insane people can’t believe it exists.”
After sharing his vision for the horror, Roth concluded, “And we have to call it, Don’t Go in That House, Bitch! And he’s and he’s going to star in it.”
Though he released a fake trailer for the film in August, the Cabin Fever director only finished writing the script over the holiday season.
The project will investigate the usual, frustrating tropes of the horror genre: It’s basically everything that we yell at the screen during horror movies,” Roth shared. “You put those as characters in the movie like a Greek chorus.”
Next steps are imminent, as Roth is currently budgeting for the movie, which he intends to shoot in Los Angeles, “so we can have all L.A. people on it.”
Snoop Dogg and Roth are also working together on Roth’s upcoming film, Ice Cream Man; he has scored “a whole section of the movie”, turning away from his hip-hop roots to embrace a more cinematic sonic palette.
Elsewhere, Snoop Dogg’s life will enjoy the music biopic treatment at the hands of Song Sung Blue director Craig Brewer. In an exclusive interview with Far Out, Brewer shared that the film will be “bold”, charting Snoop Dogg’s rise to success from his humble origins.
