Sleep Token make history with record breaking new album

Sleep Token have made history with their new album Even in Arcadia, making it one of the most successful metal albums of all time.

The album, released on May 9th, hit the number one spot in the UK on May 16th, before also topping the US Billboard Chart, making it the biggest-selling heavy metal record of the past two years.

It also broke streaming records for generating the biggest weekly streams for any metal album of all time.

Sleep Token smashed through records only recently set by fellow metal band Ghost with their album Skeletá in terms of vinyl sales, with Even in Arcadia selling 47,000 units in its first week, compared to the standard that Ghost set with 44,000.

Despite Even in Arcadia being Sleep Token’s fourth album, the band’s members have always remained anonymous since they formed in London in 2016 by wearing masks during performances. Their previous album, Take Me Back to Eden, was released in 2023, before they signed with major label RCA Records the following year.

The band are now rising to huge mainstream success, with their latest album’s lead singles ‘Emergence’ and ‘Caramel’ also landing in the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time. Their latest single from the record, ‘Damocles’, was released on April 25th.

Sleep Token are also set to capitalise further on their stratospheric rise with a string of huge shows, including a headline set at Download Festival on June 14th in Donnington Park, before embarking on their first ever US arena headline tour in September this year.
