Shia LaBeouf breaks silence following arrest in New Orleans: “Free me”
Shia LaBeouf has broken his silence after he was arrested on February 17th in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.
In a statement, issued on February 17th, the New Orleans Police Department confirmed that the actor had been arrested, sharing: “A man identified as 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf was reportedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasing[ly] aggressive at a Royal Street business.”
The message continued, “Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf, who used his closed fists on the victim several times.”
They allege that LaBeouf then left the scene before eventually he “came back, acting even more aggressive” and allegedly punched the same man, as well as another man’s nose.
LaBeouf was arrested and is facing two charges of simple battery. He was also taken to a hospital for “treatment of unknown injuries”, and released shortly afterwards.
After leaving the hospital, it was reported by the Daily Mail that LaBeouf was again out in New Orleans on February 17th for the Mardi Gras celebrations.
Now, on February 18th, LaBeouf has taken to X to simply write, “Free me”, which was posted just after 4:30 am in New Orleans.
In the past 24 hours, Page Six have also reported that LeBeouf split from his wife, Hollywood star Mia Goth, last year. They also share a child, born in 2022, together.
Before his arrest, it was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that LaBeouf had been “terrorising” New Orleans. One doorman told the publication that LaBeouf was “inebriated” and “somewhat belligerent”.
LeBeouf has previously spoken about his sobriety after being instructed by a court to enter rehab in 2017 after being arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct in Savannah, Georgia.
Only last year, he stated that the support of Mel Gibson, Sean Penn and Josh Brolin “got me to sobriety”, and also shared, “They got around me and kept me alive.”
