Following the release of their much hyped track ‘Lovelust’ as a free download earlier this year and a series of infectious live shows and festival performances, London based six-piece Sheen have released their debut double A-side single ‘Skylarks / Hey’ this November.
Sheen have become a band synonymous with their dreamy daze-like vocals, soulful rhythms and saccharine-sweet guitar work.
On the new release, ‘Skylarks’ is an aggressive full-on homage to nostalgic memories that sees the group channel early 90’s shoegaze, while ‘Hey’ moves into rolling Pixies-esque basslines and glitter-like guitar work that evokes empty East-end streets and youthful innocence.
Contrasting with their highly emotive releases, Sheen have also earned their stripes in the UK this year with their often aggressive (and sometimes bloody) live shows at this year’s Leopalooza, Tramlines, and Artrocker New Blood Festivals.
Released on their own imprint 078 Recordings, ‘Hey’ was recorded and mixed with Samantha Bennett (Boy Kill Boy, The Horrors) and mastered by Grammy nominated producer Mandy Parnell (Animal Collective, PJ Harvey, Bjork) in Black Saloon Studios. The new single release precedes the band’s debut album release next year.
